My first in a long while!

So I haven't written in this forever. Tiffany is constantly on my case to write in here again, so I've decided to use this as a place to talk about work, and log all the crazy stuff that takes place. Working with four teenage boys in a group home can have it's very interesting moments.
Today I came down the stairs and hadn't even said anything, was only going to get some of the groceries at Miranda was bringing in from her car, Divca looks at me and he's like "Go away Valerie you're such a pain in the ass."
Me: Diva, that's very inappropriate, you don't say things like that.
Diva: I'll say whatever the F' I want. Miah miah miah." (makes a nasty scrunchy face and swears some more.
Me: Diva..
Diva: GO AWAY! GO AWAY! GO AWAY!

LoL.. and that's not even DOING anything! I've gotten shoved out of the way by his shoulder, he's stood right up to me, face inches away form mine and screamign as loud as he possibly can. So loud that I can't even hear myself think let alone what I am clamly saying to him. He's called me a little c*nt, a b!tch, a "prep" (THAT one made me laugh!), a brat, a whore, and the list goes on. But the thing you have to realize about this kid.... he has seroius, SERIOUS attachment disorder, and really has a hard time feeling safe with strangers, so when he is willing to scream as loud as he possibly can right directly in your face and feel safe doing that, feel safe that you aren't going to beat him, then it's acutally a huge compliment. Plus, he's told me I'm the calmest person he knows, which my co-ordinator says is a HUGE compliment coming from him. And apoparently. ahem.. I make the best pita pizza he has ever seen :D lol! These are the things you take home with you, lol the things that mean something to you. I never thought that the day a kid screamed at me and swore and cursed at me, would be a super happy day for me. But the first time Diva ever screamed at me... I went upstairs and laughed and smiled to myself.. cause he felt SAFE with me :D
And there was the day that he was really upset cause he'd found out the girl he was dating was only using him for the money he was making at his job... and I just stood there in the hall letting him talk about it, not even saying a whole lot. But then he asked for a hug and told me I made him feel better. Little moments like that... they make all the verbal abuse and threats so worth it. Cause you know, in that moment, you are meaning something to that kid. You are possibly giving them a positive memory to look back on instead of all the crap they've gone through.

Don't get me wrong though... these kids can also drive you up the wall so that you want to strangle them, strangle yourself and then bring everyone back to life so you can do it all over again. LOL. Welcome to just a little bit of my world.
